Walton Progressive Resource Centre, Liverpool
Overview
The Walton Progressive Resource Centre is a busy, vibrant and forward-thinking service, providing day service provision to a large group of individuals with varying degrees of learning and physical disability and with a wide range of personal needs and requirements.
The service is based at a purposely designed building at the Rice Lane site. We share the site with the Walton Progressive School.
We open our doors for all fifty-two weeks of the year, 9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. We provide a responsive and flexible range of highly person-centred services tailored to the promotion of optimum levels of independence and inclusion via individual care plans for both part and full-time 'trainees' (service users).
Support levels cover the whole spectrum, from light to high-level, depending on individual needs, planning, assessments and agreed funding packages. We support our trainees via an individual, evolving timetable comprised of group and individual session-based activities. The wellbeing of each trainee is closely monitored and promoted by a designated or 'key' support worker and the individual care plan and timetable is monitored and adjusted by an assigned Activities Co-ordinator. Each service is further subject to a thorough, annual cross-agency service review.
The Resource Centre timetable is reviewed regularly and current activities include the following: Art & Craft, I.C.T / Internet Access, Cookery, Horticulture, Needlecraft, Hair & Beauty, Drama, Music & Movement, Music & Performance, Music & Percussion, Audio Book, Reading, Relaxation, Dark Room / Multi-Sensory Therapy, Community Access, Cycling For All, Community Art, Community Swimming and Bowling.

Resource Centre, Statement of purpose
At the Resource Centre we pride ourselves on our ethos of enabling and promoting the dignity and potential of the individual. We are forward thinking and resourceful. We strive to be pioneering in our approach to the often complex requirements of each and every individual we support. Our initial and ongoing care planning is thorough and meticulous. Our staff team are young, enthusiastic, well-trained and hugely committed to the objectives and ideals of the service; which is the promotion of lifelong inclusion and development and to the wellbeing of the people we support and enable.
We realise that we are quite unique in what we do and in our approach to what we do. We are aware that we have inspired other projects in the past and we hope to continue to do so in the future. We are confident and genuine in our belief in the quality of the service we provide. Our aim is to further improve and to continue to be a unique and holistic service.
