Educational Services
Our schools provide the opportunity for continued education, for young people with special needs. The curriculum is broadly based upon the National Curriculum, and is adapted to suit the needs of each individual pupil.
Each child attending our schools has a Statement of Special Educational Needs provided by their Local Education Authority. This provides the basis for each Individual Education Plan. This is a tool by which the school establishes which subjects are to be taught and how targets are to be achieved. Targets are established to facilitate progression and demonstrate individual achievement.
In addition to the educational targets, other behavioural, social and communication parameters are established. We will also work to help establish self-directed behavioural strategies.
Each activity undertaken by the pupils during the school day is assessed to establish and minimise all associated risks for the pupil, their staff and the general public. This includes providing staffing levels in order to facilitate access to the general community and amenities.
